June is PTSD Awareness Month. While post-traumatic stress disorder is most often associated with veterans it is important to know that anyone exposed to trauma can suffer from PTSD. A complicated delivery, a NICU stay or the loss of a baby can be traumatic. Because your well-being is important we encourage you to read the following information.
If you decide to take the screening test please share your results with a trusted healthcare professional for an evaluation.
- If you are still in the NICU speak with anyone on your baby’s medical care team.
- Families discharged from the NICU can contact the OB/GYN, family physician or baby’s pediatrician.
- Parents who have experienced the death of a baby before, during, or after the NICU an OB/GYN or family physician can provide community resources to you.
