Our entire staff at NICU Helping Hands LOVES Kangaroo Care Awareness Month. Each of our hospital Program Facilitators are graduate NICU moms and each is keenly aware of the benefits of Kangaroo Care for both mom, dad and baby. That is why they are all such huge advocates for encouraging and equipping NICU parents with the information needed to successfully Kangaroo during and after their NICU stay.
We are SO PROUD of the parents and staff we work with in our local hospitals in Fort Worth, Texas. This month three hospitals logged a combined total of 56,315 minutes of Kangaroo Care! That’s 938 hours of snuggling, bonding, and lowering stress for both parents and babies in just three hospitals in Fort Worth, Texas. Critical and life changing medicine that only a parent can provide a baby. That’s EMPOWERING for parents.
As we wrap up Kangaroo Care Awareness Month for 2019 we want to remind everyone that Kangaroo Care isn’t just important during the month of May – it is important every day of the year. Touch your babies and hold them skin to skin – it is healing for both you and them.
Thank you to all the healthcare professionals in the NICU that tirelessly advocate and encourage this special bonding for parents with their babies. YOU make it possible for these connections to happen and parents to provide something only they can provide their babies. We stand in awe of your commitment to Kangaroo Care and on behalf of all NICU parents and babies we thank you!
